Full Job Description Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs the basic activities and related professional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments.

Experience:
None necessary, completion of formal training in field preferred.
Computer skills:
Various applications related to Instrument management (Censis, OneSource). Manual Dexterity with the ability to assemble and disassemble complex instrumentation
EDUCATION / LICENSURE
Education:
High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required.
Note:
This is a 12-month time limited positon. SPD intern will be trained and educated on the job to care for and reprocess reusable medical equipment and surgical instrumentation. The intern will successfully pass all hospital competencies for department. Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)) is required by the end of 12 months.
Technical Skills:
Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer's Instructions For Use (IFU), ALL SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.
