Job Description

  • Baylor Medical Center Mckinney:
  • 5252 W University Dr, McKinney, 75071
  • Hours:
  • 8am-5pm, must be comfortable with 24/7 oversight of sterile processing department
  • Patient Population:
  • Level 2 trauma center, all surgical services, high volume of orthopedics, general, urology, OBGYN, Neuro and ENT
  • Equipment:
  • 3 washers, 3 sterilizers, cart washer and 24/7 operations,
FTEs:
14 direct reports, 1 supervisor and 2 coordinators

  • Job Summary
  • As a Sterile Processing Manager, manage activities related to sterile processing. Ensure compliance with all processes. Oversee multiple sites and manage large teams to ensure industry standards are followed.
  • Essential Functions of the Role
  • + You'll oversee sterile processing, ensure equipment is decontaminated and sterilized efficiently, and manage surgical supply purchase and distribution.
+ You will direct your team, making recommendations on hiring, firing, reviews, training, delegation, and troubleshooting. + Ensure supplies, instruments, and equipment are restocked accurately and timely. Clean specialty carts daily. + You will oversee preventive maintenance of equipment as per guidelines to maintain excellent standards. Ensure all equipment is working. + The position involves close collaboration with surgeons and other departments, verifying that set-ups for instrumentation are accurate and appropriate. + You will help create communications, training, and onboarding programs for product use and services. + You will help develop policies for sterile processing to control infection risks. You must monitor staff compliance with regulatory requirements during decontamination.
  • Key Success Factors
  • + Good understanding of medical supplies and instruments, as well as how hospitals and clinics operate.
+ Comprehensive understanding of aseptic techniques. + Familiarity with various types of sterilizers and cleaning equipment, and ability to ensure their efficient operation. + Experience with the Ethylene Oxide (ETO) sterilization process and Spill Plan Alarm System, if relevant. + Exceptional written and spoken communication capabilities. + Exceptional attention to detail combined with excellent time management abilities. + Customer service-focused mindset. Ability to communicate professionally with healthcare providers, insurance companies, physicians, and all staff. + A deep understanding of relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Qualifications
  • + Completion of an bachelors degree preferred +
  • Required:
    Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in sterile processing (includes supervisor exp)
  • + Must have
  • one•of the following: Certified Board Sterile Pricing & Dist (CBSPD), Certified Sterile Proc/Distr Tech (CSPDT), Sterile Processing Mgmt Certification (CSPM), or Certified Reg Central Service Tech through IAHCSMM (CRCST).
