Sterile Processing Educator
Job Description
Responsible for maintaining standards related to the decontamination and reprocessing of equipment and instrumentation used in patient care throughout the organization. Ensures that all surgical instruments and hospital equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributed promptly throughout the hospital. May have access to areas where medications are stored and/or prepared for purposes of fulfilling job duties. Serves as a resource educator & role model for the staff. Will be primarily working daylight with varying hours to accommodate in-servicing and competency verification on all shifts. Will aid with education to Augusta Health and Outpatient Pavilion central sterile departments, clinical office practices performing sterilization, and other departments as needed. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) issued through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association OR Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) accredited by National Commission for Certifying Agencies Must have at least 2 years of CS experience Preferred Qualifications BLS certified Certified Instrument Specialist Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor Certified Healthcare Leadership Minimum of 4 years CS Experience Skills Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Supportive and maintains positive environment for learning Departmental policies and procedures Meditech Supply Chain System Meditech preference card system Annual Augusta Health HealthStream requirements/unit defined competencies Annual Education required per hospital certification(s) On call required including weekends Some benefits of working at Augusta Health include Healthcare Benefits Generous paid time off Retirement savings helping you to plan for your future Free onsite parking 24/7 armed security to ensure your safety Tuition reimbursement Onsite child care Augusta Health Fitness Reimbursement Program Onsite credit union Employee discounts including the cafeteria, gift shop, pharmacy, and movie tickets Company Information Augusta Health is a mission-driven, independent, nonprofit, community health system located in Fishersville Virginia in Virginia's scenic Shenandoah Valley.
