Assemble, inspect, and package sterile instruments and supplies with precision to ensure readiness for surgical procedures. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring adequate stock while minimizing waste through effective inventory control practices. Reprocess endoscopes and specialized medical devices following strict reprocessing standards to prevent cross-contamination. Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Apply aseptic techniques during instrument handling and packaging to uphold sterile field integrity. Collaborate with surgical teams and healthcare professionals to facilitate timely instrument availability and address any sterilization concerns. Participate in infection prevention initiatives by adhering to healthcare infection control policies and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts. Requirements Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from an accredited program or organization. Proven experience in sterile processing within a healthcare environment, including medical instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization procedures. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and infection prevention management relevant to surgical settings. Familiarity with sterilization methods such as steam autoclaving, ethylene oxide (EO), hydrogen peroxide plasma, or other approved techniques. Proficiency in handling medical equipment operation, including endoscope reprocessing systems. Understanding of medical terminology related to surgical instruments and procedures. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in documentation and inventory management.
