The open shift is on Tuesdays from approximately 6:30am - 4:00pm. The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position requires a keen attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. The technician will work closely with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to support effective patient care. Responsibilities Perform cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols. Conduct thorough inspections of instruments for cleanliness and functionality before sterilization. Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained. Utilize aseptic techniques during the handling of sterile items to prevent contamination. Document sterilization processes and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborate with surgical staff to understand instrument needs for various procedures. Stay updated on best practices in sterile processing and participate in ongoing training as required. Qualifications Knowledge of sterile processing techniques and infection control practices. Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is preferred. Strong inventory management skills to effectively track supplies and equipment. Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail while adhering to strict safety standards. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is essential.
