Central Sterile Reports To:
Director of Operations / Surgeon Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and dependable Scrub & Central Sterile Technician to support a busy plastic surgery practice and accredited surgery center. This role combines intraoperative scrub responsibilities with central sterile processing duties, ensuring safety, efficient surgical care and proper instrument reprocessing. The position is part-time with on-call availability and guarantees a minimum of 20 hours per week. Scrub Technician Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields for plastic surgery procedures
  • Scrub in for surgical cases, anticipating surgeon needs and passing instruments efficiently
  • Maintain accurate surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments)
  • Assist with patient positioning and sterile draping
  • Handle surgical specimens according to protocol
  • Set up ORs with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment per case
  • Review surgical preference cards and daily case schedules
  • Assist with efficient room turnover to support on-time case starts Central Sterile Technician Responsibilities
  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and trays
  • Operate sterilization equipment according to manufacturer instructions and facility policy
  • Monitor and document sterilization cycles, biological indicators, and load records
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, AAAHC, and state regulatory standards
  • Maintain organization of instrument sets, case carts, and sterile storage areas
  • Monitor instrument integrity, tray completeness, and expiration dates
  • Communicate instrument repair needs or shortages to leadership Schedule & Availability Guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week. Part-time with on-call availability for additional surgical cases. Schedule may include early mornings, variable days, and extended hours based on surgical volume. Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Central Sterile Processing program
  • Current CST and/or CRCST certification preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of scrub experience; plastic surgery experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, and reprocessing standards
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Lift and transport instrument trays and equipment
