Position Summary Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Birmingham, Alabama | Princeton & Brookwood Campuses Join a highly specialized Cardiothoracic Surgery team where your expertise directly impacts patient outcomes in a fast-paced cardiovascular surgical environment. We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to support complex cardiac surgical procedures, collaborate with renowned surgeons, and provide exceptional patient care throughout the surgical continuum. Location Princeton Campus 701 Princeton Ave SW Birmingham, AL 35211 Brookwood Campus 2010 Brookwood Medical Drive Birmingham, AL 35209 Schedule Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Participation in call rotation required with the ability to respond on-site within 30 minutes. Responsibilities What You'll Do As a key member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery team, you will: Assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgical procedures Prepare patients for surgery alongside CVOR and anesthesia teams Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Conduct patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations Write orders, progress notes, and post-operative documentation Participate in daily rounds and patient management Assist with patient transfers to the CVICU and remain involved in post-operative care Respond to emergency situations requiring advanced clinical intervention Support clinical research and surgical quality initiatives Maintain surgical databases, procedure logs, and documentation records This role operates with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams. Qualifications What We're Looking For Required Education Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program. Licensure & Certifications Current Alabama PA or APRN license BLS Certification ACLS, PALS, and other department-required certifications Experience 5+ years of Cardiac Surgery experience strongly preferred Extensive experience assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, fast-paced operating room environment
