Certified Surgical First Assistant

Job Description

Job Summary Position Overview DrSkin Plastic Surgery, Regenerative & Medical Spa is a high-end, rapidly growing aesthetic and reconstructive surgical practice seeking an experienced Surgical First Assistant to join our in-office and accredited outpatient surgical center. This individual will work directly alongside our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Rohit Jaiswal, MD, and our operative team, playing a critical role in maintaining surgical efficiency, patient safety, sterile technique, and exceptional clinical outcomes. This position is ideal for a highly skilled, detail-oriented surgical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in precision, professionalism, and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Surgical Assistance & Intraoperative Support Assist Dr. Rohit Jaiswal, during cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures Maintain strict sterile technique and surgical asepsis throughout all operative cases Provide skilled intraoperative assistance including: Retraction and surgical exposure Tissue handling and manipulation Suctioning and hemostasis support Instrument handling within the sterile field Suturing assistance as appropriate to training and credentials Anticipate surgeon needs to support smooth operative flow and procedural efficiency Assist with patient positioning, surgical prepping, and sterile draping Participate in accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts with the operative team Support safe patient transfer and positioning throughout perioperative care Patient Safety & Compliance Adhere to all AAAASF, OSHA, CDC, infection control, and facility safety protocols Participate in surgical time-outs, safety checklists, and universal precautions Immediately identify and report any break in sterile technique or safety concern Assist with emergency response protocols and patient stabilization when necessary Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times Operating Room & Team Collaboration Collaborate with the surgeon, RN circulator, anesthesia provider, CSTs, and sterile processing personnel Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient sterile field Support OR turnover and procedural preparation between cases Contribute positively to a collaborative, respectful, and high-performing surgical environment Maintain accurate procedural documentation and support EMR workflows when appropriate Qualifications Required Prior experience assisting in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or reconstructive surgical procedures Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operative workflows Excellent attention to detail with the ability to anticipate surgeon needs Professional demeanor with strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment Certification as a
Surgical First Assistant:
