Job Description

Surgical Coordinator / Surgery Scheduler Southwestern Colorado Ear, Nose and Throat - Durango, Colorado Southwestern Colorado ENT Southwestern Colorado ENT is seeking a highly organized, experienced, and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to manage the surgical process from start to finish for our busy ENT practice. This is a critical role responsible for coordinating every aspect of the patient's surgical journey — from insurance authorization and scheduling to communication with facilities, physicians, and patients. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced medical environment, communicates professionally, and can independently manage complex workflows with accuracy and urgency. Responsibilities Obtain insurance prior authorizations for surgical procedures Coordinate surgical scheduling with hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and anesthesia teams Communicate surgery dates, instructions, and requirements with patients Verify insurance benefits and obtain required documentation Manage surgical packets, consents, and pre-operative requirements Coordinate imaging, labs, clearances, and referrals needed prior to surgery Maintain accurate documentation within EMR systems Reschedule and troubleshoot surgical cases as needed Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and outside facilities Ensure surgical cases are fully prepared and authorized prior to procedure dates Track pending authorizations and follow up aggressively to avoid delays Qualifications Minimum 2 years of medical scheduling and/or surgical coordination
REQUIRED
Prior insurance authorization experience
REQUIRED
ENT, specialty clinic, or surgical office experience strongly preferred but not required Knowledge of
CPT/ICD-10
coding and insurance processes preferred Strong multitasking and organizational skills Ability to work independently and prioritize urgent matters Professional communication skills and strong attention to detail Experience with EMR systems preferred (eClinicalWorks experience a plus) Position Details Full-time preferred Competitive pay based on experience Busy specialty medical practice with long-term growth opportunity In-person position located in Durango, Colorado We are looking for someone dependable, proactive, and capable of managing a high-volume surgical workflow with professionalism and compassion for patients.
