Looking for experienced recent college grad who wants to learn a new skill while preparing / applying for graduate medical, dental, PA or nursing school. This job will provide clinical skills and minor medical billing experience to those aspiring to be a dentist/physician/PA/nurse. Willing to consider pre-professional student without experience who will commit to a 1+ year internship. PART-TIME or
FULL-TIME
Surgical Assistant for multi-specialty surgery center. Well suited for LPN , Maxillofacial surgery assistant, dental, nursing, or medical assistants, RN or EMT/Paramedic. Paid internship to explore medicine and enhance application for pre-PA, pre-med or pre-dental who has yet to start graduate school. Dr. Hamilton-Hall is an associate professor at Columbia University in NYC. Surgeon performs plastic, reconstructive, maxillofacial, cosmetic and dermatologic surgery at a multi-specialty surgery facility in Darien, CT. Applicant's duties will include medical billing (little to no experience needed), including pre-authorizations and appeals to insurance companies, as well as some clinical duties commensurate with experience and abilities. Clinical assisting, if applicable, will include working in the operating room, taking vital signs, prepping patients for operating room, patient education, sterilizing equipment and ordering supplies. Applicant will also handle paperwork and documentation related to patients including but not limited to x-rays, operation reports and pathology. If applicant is a licensed nurse or paramedic, duties will include::- First assistant duties in the operating room. Pre and post-operative patient care
- Assist in major surgeries
- If licensed to do so, employee will be trained to perform LASER skin and hair treatments and perform microdermabrasion facials.
- If certified in placing IV's, applicant will be responsible for IVs for surgery patients.
- Production Bonus, PTO and flexible schedule for all employees COVID precautions meet or exceed all OSHA and CDC guidelines for hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
Billing Duties:
- Knowledgeable in understanding and implementing medical billing tasks, including appeals and pre-authorizations, preferable.
- Applicant must be able to quickly learn to utilize medical billing programs, be fluent in utilizing other computer programs and be able to go online and utilize insurance websites.
- MacPractice fluency a plus but not required.
- Must be honest, discreet and a team player
- Does NOT need to be able to code from charts as diagnoses and procedure codes will be selected for them
- Will also write letters of medical necessity, using pre-prepared templates
- Salary commensurate with abilities and will be re-evaluated after 6 weeks and after 6 months.
- This surgeon's office has 7 employees total, which allows flexibility in hours, paid time off, holiday pay but medical insurance is not included
