Job Description

Job Title:
Orthopedic Surgical Scheduling Coordinator - Full-Time Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery, a busy and well-established Orthopedic Surgery practice in Connecticut, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Orthopedic Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to join our team full-time. We are looking for a dedicated professional who thrives in a fast-paced medical office environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, ensuring all required documentation is accurately completed and submitted to the surgical facility. Arrange pre-operative and post-operative appointments, including consent signings and follow-up visits. Prepare and distribute surgical packets to patients; fax history and physical (H&P) to the patient's primary care provider. Obtain surgical authorizations within 30 days of the scheduled procedure and input authorization details into the electronic medical record. Submit all required pre-surgical documentation (e.g., H&P, imaging reports, consents) to the surgical facility in a timely manner. Organize and prepare necessary imaging (MRI, X-rays, bone scans) and surgical braces as needed. Generate and process surgical charge slips; coordinate with physicians for review and forward necessary documentation to the billing company. Maintain global billing dates in both the patient chart. Provide general support to front desk and clinical staff when needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an orthopedic or surgical medical office setting. Proficient in surgical scheduling and insurance authorization for both inpatient and outpatient procedures. Solid knowledge of medical billing processes, including ICD and CPT coding. Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and medical office software systems. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Capable of independent decision-making in planning and coordinating surgeries. High attention to detail—accuracy is essential to avoid delays or surgical cancellations.
