Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to start-up, troubleshoot, and monitor a 1 or 2 station printing press to meet quality and productivity standards. Perform diversified duties to inspect and ship product in accordance with product specifications and department schedules. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, print heat transfer decals; in a safe manner, correctly and consistently, and on time; in accordance with ITW Graphics-IDS Safety and Quality Specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working from specification sheets, prescribed procedures or verbal communication, perform all required set-up operations at multiple print stations to be run simultaneously. Ensure correct stock, screens, and inks are used. Employees will maintain accurate inventory levels at all stages of manufacture and report any discrepancies to their supervisor. Make prescribed adjustments in feed stroke, squeegee levels, and length. Check tension to correspond with mesh requirements. Ensure color standards and AQS file are available on press. Start-up press and monitor registration and ink performance. Troubleshoot press and ink problems, making alterations to ink for acceptable viscosity and adjustments to press for corrections of defects; make prescribed adjustments to ensure proper indexing between the two print stations, where applicable. Utilize judgment in performing on-press inspection to ensure quality standards are met. Make appropriate notations and complete paperwork required and established in the printing press. Maintain effective communication with other department personnel to resolve press related problems and support work flow. Make effective recommendations for improved quality in product and process. Perform job and color changes assuring press is cleaned properly, screens are free of defects and images are clear. Report unusual or irresolvable situations to appropriate personnel within the unit or service department. Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School Diploma. Manufacturing experience preferred.

Experience/Skills:

Must be able to read, understand and follow all relevant work instructions. Must possess basic math skills in order to carry out duties, most notably the ability to calculate percentages. Must possess basic computer skills allowing operation of Quality Control instrumentation, ink scheduling, and recordkeeping. other requirements and conditions

Manual dexterity; arm-hand steadiness; ability to quickly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine; finger dexterity; multi-limb coordination; flexibility; quick reaction time.
