Milford & Derby Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic Surgical Dental Assistant to join our Milford team! This is a great opportunity for an entry-level Dental Assistant who is eager to learn, enjoys working directly with patients, and wants to build valuable experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery. You'll work alongside our surgical team while developing your skills in surgical assisting, patient care, radiography, sterilization, and pre- and post-operative care. New to oral surgery? That's okay! Previous oral surgery experience is not required. We're looking for someone with the right foundation, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing an excellent patient experience.

Pay:

$21.00 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Assist with

Surgical Procedures:

Work chairside with the surgeon, prepare patients for procedures, take vital signs, and provide hands-on clinical support. Care for

Patients:

Help patients feel comfortable and informed before, during, and after their procedures and provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions. Prepare for

Surgery:

Set up treatment rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies to help procedures run safely and efficiently.

Take Dental X-Rays:

Capture quality radiographic images using proper positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation safety practices.

Sterilization & Infection Control:

Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and treatment areas while following OSHA and infection-control standards.

Maintain Patient Records:

Assist with consent forms, medical histories, treatment documentation, and accurate patient charting. Support the

Clinical Team:

Work closely with surgeons and fellow team members to keep the practice organized, efficient, and patient-focused. Create a

Great Patient Experience:

Bring compassion, professionalism, and a positive attitude to every patient interaction.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You don't need years of experience to be successful here! We're looking for someone who is: Interested in building a career in dental or oral surgery Compassionate and comfortable working directly with patients Dependable, punctual, and eager to learn Detail-oriented and committed to patient safety Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment A strong communicator and team player Able to follow clinical protocols and take direction Excited to learn new skills and grow within the role Previous dental assisting or oral surgery experience is a plus, but not required.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Infection Control Certification required Radiation Health & Safety Certification required Basic CPR/BLS Certification preferred Oral and Maxillofacial Assisting or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credentials are preferred but not required.
