Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
As a Surgical Coordinator you are responsible for providing high-quality care throughout the surgical process. Assist patients with questions and concerns. Communicate directly and effectively with surgical facilities and surgeons. The position reports directly to the Practice Administrator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Go over Doctor's recommendations on consult appointment for cataract surgeries, cataract upgrades, and retina surgeries. Schedule al measurement, surgical dates, and post-operative appointments. Submit pre-operative form to primary and Cardiologist. (If needed) Assist patients with CareCredit applications. (If needed) Provide language translation. (If needed/requested by patient) Meet with patients for measurement appointment. Verify insurance. (Notify patient of any deductibles/co-insurance prior to surgery in addition to upgrade fees) Assure surgical consents are signed and uploaded. Document patient communications. Surgical payments are collected and posted prior to surgery. Simple charges are inputted, and payment distributed correctly. Answer daily emails within 24-48hrs. Listen to extension voicemails and call patients back within 24-48hrs. Keep in contact with surgical centers regarding all patients. Prepare surgical charts. Follow-up with cancelled cases. Submit lens orders to the facility 2 days prior to surgery date. Case orders submitted 2 days prior to surgery date. Send the Doctor their surgical schedule 1 day prior to surgery after verifying with Surgical center. Promptly contact patients to inform them of schedule changes for surgical appointments. Schedule post-operative appointments for co-managed patients with their optometrists. Review all post and pre-operative instructions with patients. Assist in selecting appropriate lenses for surgery. Ensure accurate documentation and communication of surgical requirements to relevant personnel. Provide support and guidance to patients regarding surgical preparations and expectations. Must comply with HIPPA requirements. Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma Familiarity with EMR system. Ability to deliver an exceptional patient experience. Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals. Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential. Maintain high integrity and confidentiality of patient medical information, team member and employer confidentiality. Office travel between locations is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
