In this vital role, you will support periodontists during surgical procedures, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional patient care. Your expertise will help facilitate complex periodontal surgeries, including tissue grafts, pocket reduction procedures, and dental implant placements. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient management, and a thorough understanding of dental and medical terminology. Responsibilities Assist periodontists during surgical procedures by preparing and passing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and managing surgical materials. Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained according to infection prevention management protocols. Support patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and providing post-operative instructions with clarity and compassion. Manage patient records using our electronic medical record (EMR) system Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to obtain high-quality diagnostic images for treatment planning. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records with professionalism. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless chairside assisting, infection control, and adherence to aseptic techniques during all procedures. Assist in the processing of dental instruments and materials, ensuring readiness for upcoming surgeries or appointments. Support general dentistry procedures when needed, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, or pediatric dentistry cases. Contribute to a positive patient experience by demonstrating excellent communication skills and managing patient management software efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant with specialized knowledge in periodontal surgery or oral surgery preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures related to periodontics. Proficiency in EMR systems Dentrix Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques required for safe clinical practice. Familiarity with dental imaging technology including X-ray machines and 3D scanners used in diagnosis and treatment planning. Ability to take vital signs accurately and support patient care throughout various stages of treatment. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in medical documentation and records management. Strong communication skills to effectively explain procedures and post-operative care instructions to patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases when applicable. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent is preferred; ongoing professional development in healthcare infection control is advantageous.
