We are committed to excellence in patient care, serving our community, and committed to the continued learning of our employees. We are currently seeking a Full-time Surgical Assistant . The primary responsibilities of this individual are but not limited to: Provide direct care in the form of first and second assisting to the surgeon during surgical procedure Assist in Laparoscopic procedures with camera and instruments Assist in endoscopic procedures Assist in OB-GYN surgery Assist in Neurosurgery with back and neck Assist in vascular procedures Assist in plastic surgery Assist in orthopedic surgery either open or arthroscopic Assist in placement and suturing of surgical drains Assist in retracting tissues per surgeon's directive Clamp, ligation and cutting of tissue per surgeon's directive Closure of all wound layers (fascia, subcutaneous and skin) per surgeon's directive Prepare ACL graft as directed by the surgeon Placement of urinary catheter Placement of pneumatic tourniquet Use of electrocautery mono and bipolar Maintains and updates his/her knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment Take call after assigned working hours to assist attending surgeons in urgent or emergency surgical procedures Assist room staff by ensuring equipment for the case has been gathered and is in place using the case card Drapes patient within surgeon's guidelines Assist in patient positioning Transport patient from holding, return patient to the PACU after the procedure. Check the patient's H&P and bring X-rays, MRI, and chart with the patient to the room Maintain an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique in relation to the procedure and the operating field
Requirements:
Must have current Illinois Registered Surgical Assistant license CPR and ACLS certification required 3+ years of OR experience as a Surgical Assistant, required Excellence communication skills Thorek is an
