This role also involves performing essential preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate comprehensive patient care. The Surgical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing appropriate exposure and maintaining hemostasis. Prepare the operating room and ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and in good condition. Perform preoperative and postoperative tasks to ensure proper patient care and surgical workflow. Handle tissue, provide retraction, and assist with wound closure as directed by the surgeon. Maintain sterile technique and uphold infection control standards at all times. Collaborate effectively with operating room staff, including registered nurses and anesthesiologists. Document patient care and surgical details in accordance with hospital standards. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist program. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) preferred. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Surgical Assistant or Scrub Technologist in an acute care or hospital setting. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile field maintenance, and instrument handling. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Current BLS certification required.
