Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C)

New Jersey Full-Time Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to join a high-acuity cardiac and vascular surgery team. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons while providing comprehensive perioperative care across the operating room, surgical floor, and ICU settings. The ideal candidate will have strong cardiac surgery experience and be able to independently perform Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) without additional training.

Position Highlights:

Full-time schedule with flexible shift structure. Weekend coverage approximately two 24-hour shifts per month Day/night rotation required No external call requirement — providers remain onsite during assigned overnight/weekend coverage Opportunity to support both cardiac and vascular surgery service lines

Responsibilities:

Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) and open vein harvest procedures First assist in cardiac and vascular surgical procedures Provide inpatient management for cardiac and vascular surgery patients Participate in postoperative care within the surgical ICU and inpatient units Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Provide patient and family education throughout the perioperative experience

Preferred Experience:

Proficiency with EVH and open vein harvesting techniques Experience with cardiac surgical procedures and postoperative management Familiarity with: Chest tube placement Central venous and arterial line placement Foley catheter and NG tube placement Pulmonary artery catheters Intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) Impella devices

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program NCCPA certification Active, unrestricted New Jersey PA license Active DEA registration Current ACLS certification Minimum 1 year of cardiac or vascular surgical first assist experience and/or surgical critical care experience (cardiac critical care preferred) This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Cardiothoracic PA-C seeking a collaborative environment with a strong focus on advanced cardiac and vascular surgical care. 1099 Competitive rate, Flights, Hotel, Rental/Mileage and more are covered!
