A Surgical Assistant assists in operations, under the supervision of surgeons. May, in accordance with state laws, help surgeons to make incisions and close surgical sites, manipulate or remove tissues, implant surgical devices or drains, suction the surgical site, place catheters, clamp or cauterize vessels or tissue, and apply dressings to surgical site.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. Functions as First Assistant and scrub person on a wide variety of operative procedures. Assists in the intra-operative care of the patient by performing technical duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
