PRN PRE-OP/PACU/OR

Circulator to join our team in supporting plastic surgery procedures. This role requires a dynamic professional with extensive clinical experience, capable of providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, medical documentation, and perioperative patient management, contributing to safe and efficient surgical experiences for our patients. Prior experience in hospital settings, outpatient surgery centers, or ambulatory surgical environments is highly valued. Duties Assist during pre-operative assessments, ensuring patient readiness and verifying surgical consent and documentation. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all sterile equipment and supplies are available and properly arranged. Act as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic technique and supporting the surgical team. Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout the perioperative process, responding promptly to any changes. Document all aspects of patient care accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth. Manage patient safety protocols including airway management, IV infusion, medication administration, and sterile specimen collection. Assist with patient positioning, wound care, suturing, and post-operative assessments to ensure optimal recovery conditions. Coordinate with anesthesia providers and other healthcare team members to facilitate smooth surgical workflows. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards throughout all procedures. Support discharge planning by providing patient education on post-operative care, including pain management and medication instructions. Qualifications Valid nursing license or relevant healthcare certification with current licensure in good standing. Proven experience in OR settings with proficiency in aseptic technique, sterile processing, suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, and airway management. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems experience with medical documentation is essential. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and diagnostic evaluation processes. Experience working in hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or outpatient surgery centers preferred. Ability to work effectively under pressure in critical care or acute care settings including PACU or ICU environments. Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing protocols required for safe operative procedures. Flexibility to work PRN shifts including mornings, afternoons, or evenings as needed; prior experience in plastic surgery is a plus but not mandatory.
