Duties Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and passing dental instruments, sutures, and other necessary materials with precision and efficiency Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and ensuring all equipment is ready for use Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and patient comfort while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and procedural details in compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and assisting with pre- and post-operative instructions tailored to pediatric dentistry or general dentistry cases Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical records with integrity Support dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent infection transmission during all clinical activities Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting, preferably with exposure to oral surgery or surgical assisting environments Proficiency in dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection control practices Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures Knowledge of dental equipment operation, including 3D scanners, dental x-ray machines, and other clinical tools used in oral surgery Experience using patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and record keeping Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, demonstrating patience and professionalism throughout the treatment process This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow their expertise in oral surgery assisting while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
