Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Oral Surgery Assistant, where your expertise will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting complex oral surgical procedures. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with experienced oral surgeons, assisting with a variety of surgical treatments, ensuring clinical excellence, and maintaining a smooth workflow within our state-of-the-art dental clinic. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a positive environment for both patients and staff alike. Responsibilities Assist with oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, dental implant and full-arch/All-on-X procedures Prepare and turn over treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with infection prevention management and dental sterilization procedures. Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside assisting techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and adherence to radiation safety protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as OpenDental or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and procedural notes. Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care, including oral surgery procedures, infection control practices, and medication instructions. Monitor patient vital signs and medical imaging results to support clinical decision-making while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Support the dental team with general dentistry tasks when needed, including dental instrument processing and assisting with pediatric dentistry cases. Performance Requirements Current Texas Registered Assistant (RDA) certification Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment, preferably with exposure to oral surgery or dentistry. Familiarity with EMR systems such as OpenDental or Dentrix for efficient patient management. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control policies, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Excellent team work and communication skills to effectively support the team and educate patients about procedures and care instructions while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
