Job Description

POSITION
SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIESCarries out, under the direction of the physician(s), duties designed to assist in intraoperative procedures at University Health. This is a position for advanced allied health practitioners who provide aid in exposure, wound closure, bleeding control and other intraoperative technical functions. Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. The CFA is to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure the surgeon is able to carry out a safe operation with optimal results for patients.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEGraduate from an accredited Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), Surgical Assistant, Certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certificationCertified First Assistant (CFA)Basic Life Support (BLS)Five years perioperative services experience preferred
