Surgical Assistant Job Description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic team in a quality healthcare setting. Duties Assist the surgical team during procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials. Monitor and record vital signs of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with clinic protocols. Prepare the surgical area by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available. Collaborate with dental professionals in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry settings to provide optimal patient care. Utilize WinOMS for patient management, scheduling, and record keeping. Conduct medical imaging as required to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients on post-operative care and follow-up procedures. Qualifications Proven experience as a Surgical Assistant or in a similar role within a dental/surgical clinic or healthcare setting. Experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery is preferred. DAANCE certification is preferred too. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and familiarity with medical records management. Proficiency in using WinOMS management software is preferred. Ability to perform vital signs monitoring accurately. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with patients and team members.
