We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Surgical Dental Assistant to join our oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a surgical setting, be proficient in all aspects of patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, and possess a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of sterilization and safety. The Surgical Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the surgeon, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow, and providing a positive and reassuring experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-operative Patient Care:

Review patient medical history and verify surgical consent forms. Prepare the surgical operatory with the necessary instruments, equipment, and materials for each specific procedure (e.g., dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, bone grafts). Take Panoramic x-ray and

CBCT SCAN

Monitor and document patient's vital signs before surgery. Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative instructions.

Intra-operative Assistance:

Assist the oral surgeon chairside with all surgical procedures, including but not limited to: Dental extractions (simple and complex) Dental implant placement Bone and soft tissue grafting Biopsies Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure. Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments efficiently. Monitor patient comfort and well-being during the procedure. Operate and maintain surgical suction and irrigation devices.

Post-operative Patient Care:

Provide clear and detailed post-operative instructions to patients and their caregivers. Sterilize and prepare instruments and equipment for the next procedure. Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments.

Sterilization and Infection Control:

Adhere strictly to all OSHA, CDC, and state-mandated sterilization and infection control protocols. Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment using an autoclave. Maintain accurate sterilization logs. Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized, and properly stocked.

Administrative and General Duties:

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Manage and track surgical supply inventory. Assist with front office duties as needed, including answering phones and scheduling appointments. Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for patient questions and concerns. Pay is based on experience.
