Job Description

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
(IMPORTANT): Our OMS practice requires a clinically strong, fast-learning, safety-driven Surgical Assistant who can circulate independently, anticipate surgical needs, manage IV medications accurately, and support the surgeon without constant direction. This is not a sterilization-only or entry-level role. This position is for someone who can think critically under pressure, retain instruction, and execute consistently in a surgical environment. ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
(These are required at hire or must be demonstrated rapidly during onboarding) Strong working knowledge of head and neck anatomy Familiarity with OMS surgical instruments and workflows Strict adherence to
OSHA / WISHA / HIPAA
/ infection control Ability to circulate independently in OMS procedures Proficient x-ray taking and imaging workflow Clear, accurate communication of pre-op and post-op instructions Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical schedule Professional interaction with patients, staff, and referring offices
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the surgeon safely and efficiently during OMS procedures Circulate competently in the OR Prepare, maintain, and break down surgical rooms to OMS standards Maintain strict sterilization, infection control, and safety compliance Take diagnostic x-rays and prepare cases for doctor review Prepare patient charts and surgical setups in advance Monitor patient recovery and escort patients post-surgery safely Maintain accurate inventory of clinical, lab, and surgical supplies Support front office workflow when clinically appropriate Communicate clearly with the team to ensure smooth daily operations
CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE
DAANCE Certification required or willingness to complete DAANCE training and pass the exam (office support provided) Surgical or OMS-adjacent clinical experiences (OMS experience strongly preferred) Strong science/biology background required if OMS-specific experience is limited If you are clinically strong, detail-driven, and thrive in a surgical environment where patient safety and excellence matter, we encourage you to apply.
