Job Description

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract Take your surgical expertise to the next level by supporting patient care in a dynamic operating room setting. This contract position seeks an experienced surgical technologist or operating room technician to provide support for a busy surgical suite, requiring orthopedic, neuro, and robotic case experience.
Schedule/Hours:
10:30 AM start time Two shifts every other weekend
On-call:
12 hours on weekends and 20 hours on weekdays in a 4-week period (30-minute response required) Weekend call is in addition to regularly scheduled weekend shifts Up to one cancelled shift per pay period
Qualifications:
Experience as a Surgical Tech (certified or non-certified) or OR Tech (nursing background accepted) Demonstrated competency in orthopedic, neuro, and robotic procedures Ability to work both scheduled shifts and on-call as required Strong understanding of surgical safety, sterile technique, and instrument management Commitment to maintaining regulatory requirements including licensing/certification, TB Testing, HIPAA, and ongoing compliance training
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality patient care in the operating room with minimal supervision Anticipate the needs of surgical teams, assist with instrumentation, and support dressing or cast application Accurately prepare surgical cases following physician preference cards Document and communicate essential procedural data (instrument counts, exceptions, updates to preference cards) Comply with all count and safety protocols and contribute to ongoing process improvements Take initiative on departmental projects beyond routine tasks, and participate in team teaching and process recommendations The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and demonstrates integrity in upholding professional and regulatory standards.
