Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to aseptic techniques. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools efficiently. Monitor vital signs and patient responses throughout surgeries, ensuring patient safety at all times. Maintain accurate medical records and document surgical procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Support infection prevention protocols by adhering to hospital infection control policies and sterilization procedures. Assist with the treatment of fractures, trauma care, and complex surgeries such as cardiovascular or neurosurgery assistance. Ensure all medical equipment is operated correctly, maintained, and sterilized following hospital standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, critical care units, ICU, and pediatric departments to provide optimal patient care. Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical procedures to support effective team functioning. Participate in ongoing training related to healthcare infection control, aseptic techniques, endoscopy procedures, and medical equipment operation. Qualifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Proven experience assisting in Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; experience in hospital medicine or acute care settings highly valued. Hands-on experience with surgical instruments, medical equipment sterilization, and operating room procedures. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for safe patient care. Demonstrated ability to perform suturing, treatment of fractures, trauma care, orthopedic surgery assistance, and endoscopy support. Strong analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and recognizing patient needs during surgery. Familiarity with EHR systems and medical records management within hospital environments. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations such as trauma or cardiovascular emergencies.
