Job Description

Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers the excitement of a lively community while being a fifteen-minute drive from the serenity of Avila Beach, known for their natural hot springs, and Pismo Beach, known for their sand dunes and eucalyptus trees. Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Provides care to patients under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies. This position is represented by SEIU.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Hospital experience:
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
Surgery Technician certification: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification:
Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy:
Required Essential Functions:
Prepares positioning equipment and supplies for posted surgical cases. Cleans equipment post-operatively and maintains in good working order. Obtains hospital beds and gurneys and assists with patient transportation, positioning and care. Maintains efficient Operating Room (OR) turnover times to meet the needs of the surgery schedule and ensure surgeon satisfaction. Performs environmental cleaning of the operating rooms. Stocks anesthesia carts and maintains temperature logs daily as assigned. Participates in educational training to develop awareness of new techniques, procedures and instruments. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
