Surgical Tech in Spring Valley, CA

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract This role offers an opportunity to deliver critical patient care and unit support within an operating room setting. The position requires a detail-oriented professional familiar with operating room protocols who can proactively support surgical teams and maintain high standards of patient safety.

Responsibilities:

Adhere strictly to healthcare practices, policies, and ethical standards governing patient safety and attendance. Maintain up-to-date regulatory compliance, including licensing, certification, and mandatory trainings; submit required documentation promptly. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures by anticipating needs before and during cases. Prepare cases consistent with physician preference cards and assist with post-procedure tasks such as dressings and cast application. Perform counts of surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps in accordance with established policies, documenting and reporting any discrepancies. Update surgeon preference cards as necessary to ensure procedural accuracy. Proactively identify operational challenges and implement appropriate actions to enhance department objectives. Participate in additional shifts when requested and take ownership of specialized departmental tasks. Contribute to process improvement initiatives through written recommendations and involvement in teaching efforts.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Valid nursing license with operating room training or certification (ORT). Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Commitment to maintaining patient safety and adhering to regulatory requirements. Experience with surgical counts and instrument management preferred.
