Job Description

Adventist Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support our mission-driven, faith-based care team in a full-time, day shift role. You will prepare the operating room, set up sterile instruments, and assist surgeons and nurses during a variety of surgical procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, ensuring accurate counts of instruments and supplies, handling specimens, and supporting OR safety and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with a compassionate, multidisciplinary team committed to whole-person care-mind, body, and spirit-while growing your skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Prepare operating room, equipment, and sterile instruments for surgical procedures Maintain strict aseptic technique and sterile field throughout surgery Assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments and supplies during procedures Anticipate surgical team needs to support safe, efficient operations Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps per protocol Handle and label specimens according to hospital and regulatory standards Ensure surgical equipment is functioning, cleaned, and stored properly Collaborate with the perioperative team to support patient safety and comfort Follow infection control, safety, and documentation standards Contribute to a mission-driven, faith-based environment focused on whole-person care Required Skills Sterile field setup Surgical instrument handling Aseptic technique Operating room safety Patient positioning Surgical equipment operation Count procedures (sponges, instruments, sharps) Specimen handling and labeling Infection control protocols Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
