Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Service Line Leader ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care, and coordination of all functions in the service line. A Service Line Leader will be in collaboration with other staff members, management team, vendors, Materials Management, Sterile Processing, physicians, and physician Representatives to serve as a resource person for staff and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall service line performance.
CORE COMPETENCIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Collaborates with surgeon(s) to coordinate, evaluate, customize any needs in the service line to deliver high quality, patient-centered care. Ensure preparations for specialty procedures are completed by reviewing schedule in advance, checking accuracy of schedule (time-allotted, procedure name, & any special considerations) . Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Ensures equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to regulatory and/or accreditation standards. Creation and updating of service line preference cards regularly for accuracy, completeness, and charge capture. Service Align knowledge, skill, and expertise of perioperative personnel to enhance and develop surgical specialty capabilities. Reflects Stamford Health mission and core values when interacting with co-workers, patients, and physicians. Arrange/order supplies/equipment necessary for upcoming procedures and providing in-services to colleagues. Provide and develop educational tools that may be needed regarding service line procedures or any equipment, etc. (reference guides/videos). Coordinates with the Perioperative Nurse Educator and Nurse Manager to arrange staff in-service education. Coordinates with management team to balance unit staffing needs with service line responsibilities. People Functions as a resource person in service line for staff members. Works in tandem with surgeons, colleagues, vendors to play an integral role to provide feedback/training to assist in service line performance. Leads in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Demonstrates leadership traits and supports team efforts. Collaborates with surgeon(s) in particular specialty initially during their onboarding process and continually thereafter. Serves as a preceptor regarding service line procedures and equipment to new hires and students. Supports physician partnership. Finance Provide information, insight, and suggestions regarding operational and capital purchases and processes related to service line. Identifies opportunities and provides solutions for improvement including volume, efficiency, cost, and safety. Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
UNIT SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS
Will be provided on orientation to the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in an operating room environment Surgical Tech certification required. Proficient in creating/updating preference cards for designated serviceline Completion of any specialty training for service line Completion of performance and knowledge validation for service line Endorsement by surgeon(s) and perioperative leadership
