The Friday after Thanksgiving Christmas Eve New Year's Eve We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technician Labor to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role involves supporting surgical procedures across various specialties, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection control. The Surgical Technician Labor will assist surgeons and medical staff by preparing and handling surgical instruments, maintaining sterile environments, and facilitating efficient operative workflows. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical care environments within a hospital setting, supporting complex surgeries including trauma, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic, and pediatric procedures. Key responsibilities include preparing operating rooms, sterilizing medical equipment, assisting during surgeries with instrument handling, and ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments and medical terminology, along with experience in trauma centers or intensive care units. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by supporting safe and effective surgical interventions. Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments and supplies according to procedural requirements. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical equipment. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Monitor vital signs and physiological data during surgeries to support patient stability. Support the handling of complex cases such as trauma, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and endoscopy. Collect data related to patient status and procedure outcomes for documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Ensure proper sterilization of medical equipment post-operation and maintain detailed records of surgical instruments. Assist in treatment of fractures and trauma care by providing specialized support during orthopedic procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care from preoperative preparation through postoperative recovery. Demonstrate proficiency in medical equipment operation and analysis skills to troubleshoot technical issues promptly. Uphold infection prevention protocols and hospital policies related to healthcare infection control. Qualifications Proven experience as a Surgical Technician or in a similar role within hospital medicine or critical care environments. Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience highly preferred; PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience is advantageous. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical procedures across multiple specialties including neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiovascular surgery, and pediatrics. Proficiency in handling surgical instruments such as scalpels, forceps, retractors, sutures, and endoscopic tools. Familiarity with medical equipment sterilization processes and infection control practices. Ability to operate various medical devices safely and effectively while maintaining aseptic technique. Excellent data collection skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation in EHR systems. Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or trauma care are beneficial. Strong analysis skills for evaluating patient data such as vital signs during procedures. Knowledge of hospital policies regarding treatment of fractures, trauma care protocols, and orthopedic surgery assistance. Effective communication skills for collaborating with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
