Job Description

Job Overview As a Patient Care Technician on the Med Surg unit, you'll work closely with nurses to provide hands‑on care for patients throughout their hospital stay. You'll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and compassionate bedside support — including care for patients nearing end of life. The wide range of diagnoses on Med Surg makes this unit an excellent place to build strong clinical skills and confidence. What You'll Do Provide direct patient care including bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens Support safe mobility including repositioning and transfers Monitor and record vital signs Document patient information accurately This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation About the Med Surg Unit This 23‑bed unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical needs, including respiratory illnesses, cardiac conditions, and complex infections. It's a supportive, team‑focused environment where you'll learn quickly, develop strong clinical skills, and feel backed by experienced staff. Requirements Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire High school diploma or GED preferred Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
