Location:
Wichita, KS Compensation:
$23 per hour, increasing to $25 per hour upon training completion + case stipends
Hours/Schedule:
6:00 PM
  • 6:00 AM | On-Call | Thursday & Friday Nights + one rotating 12
  • hour shift every third Tuesday Step into a uniquely meaningful role as a Surgical Recovery Technician, where your dedication to afterlife care and hands-on skill directly contributes to someone's ability to receive a cornea transplant and regain their sight.
What You'll Do Respond to cases with urgency, traveling an average of 90 minutes to hospitals, morgues, or funeral homes. Review donor medical and health information and conduct full-body inspections on deceased donors to ensure compliance with EBAA and FDA standards. Perform surgical recovery of corneal tissue for transplant and medical research. Communicate clearly with team members, leadership and external partners. Once fully trained, support and assist onboarding and training needs. What We Offer A hands-on, mission-driven role where your work directly changes lives. How You'll Be Challenged Work includes frequent night travel and shifts extending into early morning hours, occasionally past 6:00 AM. Cases involve donors with a wide range of backgrounds, which can be emotionally challenging. Donation services depend on continuous 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays. The Ideal Candidate Has an interest and passion for afterlife or palliative care. Thrives working independently and is comfortable performing hands-on procedures solo. Experience in healthcare, mortuary science, or criminal investigation is a plus. On-call or overnight work experience is helpful
