JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

• CVOR to support cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment.

The Surgical Technologist will function as a primary scrub person or surgical assistant, ensuring proper preparation, maintenance of the sterile field, instrument availability, and safe, efficient support throughout surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of surgical technology experience , strong CVOR/OR skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia personnel, and other members of the surgical team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Surgical Preparation Scrub into scheduled surgical cases and prepare the operating room for procedures. Ensure all required instruments, supplies, equipment, and implants are available and properly prepared. Set up surgical cases according to established procedures and surgeon preference cards. Verify that instruments and supplies have been properly sterilized. Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout case preparation. Identify potential safety concerns or deviations from standard procedures and communicate them promptly to the circulating RN. Intraoperative Responsibilities Serve as the primary scrub person during surgical procedures. Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon efficiently and appropriately. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout the procedure. Assist physicians with surgical procedures as directed. Cut suture material as requested. Apply electrocautery to clamps on bleeding vessels when directed and under the appropriate supervision of the surgeon. Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and sharp counts in collaboration with the circulating RN. Maintain the sterile field and adhere to strict sterile technique throughout the procedure. Assist with patient positioning and surgical draping. Collaborate closely with the circulating RN to implement appropriate interventions and maintain patient safety. Post-Operative / Room Turnover Assist the circulating RN and surgical support staff with post-case cleanup and room turnover. Perform gross decontamination and appropriate breakdown of surgical instruments before transfer to Central Sterile Processing. Follow established standards for safe instrument transport and return to Central Sterile Processing. Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments and equipment to the appropriate leader. Ensure the operating room is cleaned, disinfected, and prepared for the next procedure. Check supply levels and restock the operating room according to established par levels. Compliance & Professional Responsibilities Complete all required hospital education, training, and competency assessments. Maintain compliance with Human Resources and Employee Health requirements. Follow hospital policies, procedures, infection-control standards, and OR safety practices. Complete age-specific competency requirements as applicable. Maintain a professional, collaborative, and patient-centered approach. Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary surgical team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 7 years of surgical technology experience. Strong operating room experience with the ability to function independently in the scrub role. Excellent knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate surgical team needs. Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and reliability.

EDUCATION

Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist program OR Comparable military surgical technology training.

SURGICAL SERVICES ENVIRONMENT

The surgical department consists of 15 operating room suites , including a Hybrid OR and two Cardiothoracic ORs , supporting a broad range of surgical procedures. The department includes an anesthesia workroom, OR distribution room, sterile supply areas, equipment storage, staff and physician lounges, PACU support, satellite pharmacy, and dedicated surgical administration and education areas. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team and should be comfortable supporting cardiovascular/cardiothoracic procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique, managing surgical instrumentation, and responding to the needs of a high-acuity OR environment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is an experienced CST with 7+ years of OR experience , strong surgical knowledge, excellent sterile technique, and the ability to confidently scrub cases while anticipating the needs of the surgeon. CVOR/cardiothoracic experience is highly valuable for this assignment, particularly for candidates comfortable working in Hybrid OR and cardiac surgery environments.

Pay:

$50.00
