As a Per Diem Surgical Technologist, you\'ll work alongside surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to help ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures across a variety of specialties. What You\'ll Do Prepare, maintain, and monitor a sterile surgical environment before, during, and after procedures. Anticipate the needs of surgeons and physicians by selecting and passing instruments, supplies, and equipment throughout surgical procedures. Safely operate, inspect, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies. Participate as an integral member of the operating room team by understanding each patient\'s history, allergies, and intraoperative plan of care. Demonstrate knowledge of medications used within the sterile field, including proper identification, labeling, dosage recognition, and safe handling practices. Maintain the highest standards of sterile and aseptic technique to promote patient safety and prevent infection. Complete required documentation accurately and within the Surgical Technologist scope of practice. Demonstrate best practices in sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling, and intraoperative temperature management. Communicate effectively using appropriate medical terminology with surgeons, physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the healthcare team. Maintain competency through continuing education and adherence to departmental policies and clinical standards. Function effectively across a variety of surgical specialty services while supporting efficient, high-quality patient care. Qualifications Required Individuals entering the Surgical Technology profession on or after July 1, 2013, must have an Associate degree in Surgical Technology. Individuals who worked as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013, may qualify under applicable grandfathering provisions. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program recognized by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or completion of an approved structured training program with an equivalent professional credential. Surgical Technologist certification is required for new hires who did not have surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013. Demonstrated knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, anatomy, and operative procedures. Preferred Previous Surgical Technologist experience is welcomed but not required.
