Job Requirements Join the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center as a Full-Time Surgical Technologist Lead and take the next step in your perioperative career. This role combines hands-on surgical technology expertise with leadership responsibilities, supporting Operating Room operations, staff development, surgical service lines, and the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. As a Surgical Technologist Lead, you will serve as both a skilled Surgical Technologist and a resource to the OR team. You will support staff orientation and education, coordinate service-line needs, maintain surgical instrumentation and supplies, assist with surgeon preference cards, and help ensure departmental and regulatory standards are consistently maintained.

SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday | 6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. | On-Call Required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties outline the general scope and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Assist with preparation of the Operating Room, surgical instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and patient positioning. Function as a skilled Surgical Technologist during operative procedures. Provide oversight, guidance, and support to Surgical Technologists team members. Serve as a lead for assigned surgical service lines and coordinate required equipment and supplies. Support orientation, precepting, training, and ongoing education for new and existing staff. Maintain and update surgeon preference cards and support efficient case preparation. Support inventory management and ensure surgical instruments, supplies, equipment, and specialty items are available and ready for use. Assist with policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory readiness. Collaborate with nursing leadership, educators, surgeons, and other members of the perioperative team. Perform all other duties as assigned.

LICENSURE & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program and valid national certification as a Surgical Technologist, required. Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required Minimum of five (5) years of Surgical Technologist experience, required. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION
Pay Range:

$33.36 - $46.70 per hour. Shift, Weekend, and Holiday Differentials provided where applicable. Comprehensive Benefits Package available for Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN employees.
