Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, organized, and ready for procedures. Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, suturing, and handling specimens with precision. Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. Monitor vital signs and patient responses during surgery, providing support as needed. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure adherence to protocols for infection control and patient safety. Assist with data collection related to surgical procedures, outcomes, and equipment usage for quality improvement. Support post-operative processes including instrument sterilization, documentation in electronic health records (EHR), and inventory management. Demonstrate proficiency in using hospital information systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms for accurate medical records management. Maintain current knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices relevant to surgical technology. Participate in ongoing training related to emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), pediatric care (PICU & pediatrics), and ambulatory surgery settings. Skills Extensive OR experience with a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Proven ability in suturing techniques and handling complex surgical instruments. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, vital signs monitoring, and acute care practices. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Familiarity with hospital medicine, emergency medicine protocols, and critical care environments including ICU experience. Proficiency in data collection methods and analysis skills for quality assurance purposes. Strong understanding of medical terminology, electronic health record systems such as Epic or similar EMR/EHR platforms. Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across hospital departments.
