The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting surgical teams during procedures, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and that all necessary instruments and supplies are available. This position requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, patient care, and aseptic techniques, as well as the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments. This role is critical in ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient environment during surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic techniques at all times. Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs. Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery. Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical instruments and equipment. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols. Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care. Ensure all surgical equipment is sterilized and functional. Utilize EMR systems for documentation and patient management. Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery, including pre-operative assessments. Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures.
Qualifications Required:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certification by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing). BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
Preferred:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital surgical environment. Experience with multiple surgical specialties (e.g., ortho, general, neuro, urology). Skills and Abilities Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
