At Grand Valley Surgical Center, we provide the best patient care Monday-Friday, 6:00 am- 8:00 pm! One clinic a month that rotates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for preparing case tables with necessary equipment sterile supplies, instruments, special equipment and medications/solutions for each case and ensuring the case tables are in the room for the procedure. Coordinate with the Materials Coordinator or Charge Nurse for any special equipment and/or supplies needed. Monitor biologicals to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and equipment. Assists in open sterile supplies and prepares for each operative procedure. Passes sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure to the surgeon. Assist in proper handling of specimens. Responsible for breaking down the case tables and turning the room over for the next procedure. Assist in stocking the room with supplies, ensuring correct count of sponges/needles. Receives and distributes supplies and equipment deliveries. Maintains computerized inventory listing. Responsible for ensuring preference cards match the schedule. Responsible for documenting on preference cards any updates, changes or additional materials/equipment used during the procedure. May rotate between the operating room and decontamination/sterile prep area. Clean, sterilize, and wrap instruments according to policy and procedure. Must have completed high school or equivalent. Graduate of Surgical Technologist training program or equivalent. Certification preferred. Current certification in Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS). Previous ambulatory surgery experience preferred. Experience in decontamination/sterile prep desired. Superior dexterity skills needed to pass instruments. Requires extensive mobility (walking and standing) while performing duties. Periodic pushing, pulling and lifting patients and/or equipment up to a 60 pound weight load.
