  • Job Description​
  • Within the organizational structure of the Operating Room, assists in the delivery of direct primary care to the patient experiencing vascular interventional procedures.

The vascular specialist will assist the surgeon elbow to elbow passing instruments, managing wires, catheters & balloons. Incumbents in this position assist physicians by implementing and performing vascular surgery plan of care using standards of A.O.R.N. aseptic technique peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology radiographic imaging technique and principles of vascular intervention technology.

+ Individualizes and modifies care according to the patient's needs

+ Collaborates with other healthcare employees to enhance the provision of patient care

+ Assumes a multi-skilled role, performing clinical and surgical functions

+ Ensures appropriate supplies have been obtained for all surgical procedures performed

+ Obtains necessary sterile instrumentation prior to procedures and hands-off contaminated instrumentation to decontamination with appropriate communication following procedures

+ Participates in at least two education or training programs annually or serves as a preceptor e.g., mentoring, teaching peers, department in-service

+ Supports quality and change projects

+ Participates in department level meetings

  • Job Requirements
  • Applicable Experience: 2 years Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross Associate Degree - Radiologic Technology
