Job Description

Surgical Support Technician Operating Room Full-time and PRN positions
Job Summary:
The Surgical Support Technician provides essential support to the operating room team to ensure safe, efficient, and organized surgical procedures. This role is responsible for prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas using germicidal solutions and following prescribed procedures and terminal cleaning of Operating Rooms. They are also required to maintain the linen, trash, bio hazardous bags and floor tech duties; mopping and buffing. Assist staff with setup/breakdown, maintaining sterile environments, handling surgical instruments/equipment and supplies, and assisting with patient transport and positioning. The technician ensures a clean facility, assists with equipment, and assists with transporting and positioning patients. Working closely with nurses, surgeons, and sterile processing staff, the Surgical Support Technician helps maintain workflow, supports infection control standards, and contributes to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical setting.
Education:
A high school graduate or GED is required.
Experience:
Previous housekeeping experience, specifically in a healthcare or operating room setting, is preferred.
Language/Communication/Organizational Skills:
Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. After brief training, the ability to demonstrate correct use of work-related chemicals, supplies, tools and equipment.
Work Environment:
High physical stamina for walking, standing, lifting, and pushing equipment; strong communication skills for working with surgical teams. High-pressure, sterile, and fast-paced environment requires meticulous attention to detail. Often involves working flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays to cover surgical schedules. Strict adherence to wearing PPE.
