Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgical Technologist, where you will play a vital role in facilitating safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical procedures. In this energetic and fast-paced environment, you will assist surgeons and healthcare professionals by preparing operating rooms, managing sterile techniques, and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical interventions. Your expertise will contribute to positive patient outcomes in a variety of surgical settings, including trauma centers, emergency medicine, and specialized units such as PICU and ICU. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly before procedures. Assist surgical teams during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of surgeons. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during surgery to support optimal care and immediate response to any changes. Maintain strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Manage medical records and document procedures accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms. Collect data related to surgical procedures for quality assurance, analysis, and reporting purposes. Support post-operative care by assisting with dressing changes, wound management, and patient transfer procedures in various units including medical-surgical floors, ICU, or PICU. Qualifications Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist with OR experience in hospital settings; experience in trauma centers (Level I or Level II), emergency medicine, or ambulatory surgery centers is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for safe surgical support. Competency in suturing techniques and basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are a plus. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or other hospital information systems for accurate documentation of patient records. Critical care experience in ICU or PICU settings preferred; ability to perform analysis skills related to vital signs and physiological data. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure in acute care environments while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine disciplines including pediatrics and trauma services.
