Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision. Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all phases of surgery to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during operations to ensure stability and safety. Support the handling and sterilization of medical equipment and surgical instruments following hospital protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate efficient workflow in the operating room. Assist in the treatment of fractures, trauma care procedures, and orthopedic surgeries as needed. Document surgical procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other hospital-specific platforms. Participate in ongoing training related to medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and new surgical techniques. Contribute to infection prevention initiatives by adhering to hospital policies on infection control and healthcare safety standards. Requirements Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is mandatory. Prior experience working in a hospital setting is required; ambulatory surgery center experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in handling surgical instruments, medical equipment operation, and sterilization processes. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to various surgical specialties. Experience assisting with cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, or trauma care preferred. Proficiency in data collection and analysis skills for quality improvement initiatives. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or similar platforms. Strong understanding of aseptic technique, infection control practices, and healthcare safety standards.
