Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols. Assist surgeons during procedures across various specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, trauma care, pediatrics, and endoscopy. Monitor patient vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, and respiration throughout surgeries to ensure stability and safety. Collect and document data related to patient physiology, treatment progress, and surgical outcomes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or other EMR platforms. Support the surgical team by handling medical equipment operation, suturing wounds, and assisting with fracture treatment or trauma interventions as needed. Maintain strict adherence to hospital policies on medical equipment sterilization, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers to deliver critical care efficiently. Experience Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist with a focus on general surgery in hospital settings; experience in ambulatory surgery centers is highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in handling surgical instruments specific to cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery assistance, orthopedic procedures including fracture management, and pediatric surgeries. Familiarity with ICU (Intensive Care Unit), acute care environments, and emergency medicine protocols is essential for providing critical support during trauma or urgent cases. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and treatment of fractures ensures precise assistance during complex procedures. Hands-on experience with medical equipment sterilization processes and operation of various surgical tools is required for maintaining sterile environments. Ability to perform data collection accurately while analyzing vital signs and other patient data to support clinical decision-making in fast-paced settings. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) along with current CST certification is mandatory; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are advantageous for specialized roles.
