Skilled in preparing and sterilizing instruments, maintaining aseptic conditions, and assisting during complex dental procedures. Adept at ensuring patient comfort, managing surgical documentation, and upholding the highest standards of infection control. Dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and contributing to a smooth, efficient surgical environment.
Job Summary:
A Dental Surgical Technician supports dentists and oral surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and assisting with patient care before, during, and after surgery. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and strong knowledge of dental surgical instruments and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and materials. Set up surgical trays and ensure all necessary tools are available for procedures. Assist the dentist or oral surgeon during surgeries by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and maintaining a clear surgical field. Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout procedures. Manage infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment. Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed. Prepare patients for surgery by explaining procedures and ensuring proper positioning. Handle and label specimens for laboratory analysis. Maintain accurate patient records and surgical logs. Clean and restock surgical rooms after procedures. Assist with post-operative care instructions and follow-up appointments.
Skills and Qualifications:
Certification or diploma in dental assisting or surgical technology (depending on state requirements). Knowledge of dental anatomy, surgical instruments, and aseptic techniques. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations. Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
