Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Patient Care Technician provided basic nursing care to patients, transports patients within the hospital, and monitors a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Technician provides clerical support, including order entry, as the patient care and patient flow requires. Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure and standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the individual patient's special physical or age-related needs.
Education:
Possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
None at start. American Heart Association Basic Support Certification (BLS) within three (3) months of transfer or hire.
Experience:
One (1) year experience as a Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
Preferred:
Emergency Department, Critical Care or EMT experience or Medical Office Assistant training.
