AAH01 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist surgeons and medical staff during a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring that all instruments, equipment, and supplies are prepared and functioning optimally. Your expertise will support patient safety, promote efficient operating room workflows, and uphold the highest standards of infection control. Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to aseptic techniques. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision. Monitor vital signs and patient responses throughout surgeries, providing critical support for anesthesia and physiology management. Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms. Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, including proper sterilization of medical equipment and infection control practices. Assist with the treatment of fractures, trauma care, and orthopedic surgeries by providing specialized instrument handling and support. Support emergency procedures in Level I and Level II trauma centers, contributing to rapid response efforts in acute care settings like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or ICU environments. Requirements Proven experience as a Surgical Technician in hospital settings, with familiarity in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and critical care environments. Demonstrated expertise in handling surgical instruments such as those used in cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, endoscopy, and other specialized procedures. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and treatment of fractures; ability to assist across diverse surgical disciplines including pediatrics and trauma care. Proficiency with medical equipment operation and sterilization techniques; understanding of aseptic technique to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred. Experience working within hospital environments that utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation of medical records. Strong analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and patient responses during procedures; excellent attention to detail in high-pressure situations. Ability to work effectively within a team in fast-paced settings such as ORs (Operating Rooms), ambulatory surgery centers, or trauma units.
