Job Description

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a CST II to support surgical and clinical education within an academic health center. This role assists faculty and learners in delivering safe, high-quality patient-centered care through advanced technical and clinical support. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining clinical and simulation environments, supporting skills labs and procedures, ensuring safety and compliance, and collaborating on innovative educational initiatives. At MUSC, you will contribute to research, medical education, and clinical excellence in an inclusive, community-focused setting. Responsibilities Provide advanced clinical support to faculty and students in healthcare education settings Prepare, operate, and maintain clinical and simulation equipment and labs Assist with skills labs, demonstrations, and assessments for learners Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and institutional standards Collect, document, and report data to support academic and clinical outcomes Collaborate with faculty and healthcare teams to enhance learning experiences Train and support students in proper use of clinical tools and technology Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate repairs or vendor support Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure lab readiness Participate in quality improvement and professional development activities Required Skills Surgical technology Aseptic and sterile technique Clinical simulation operations Medical equipment setup and maintenance Perioperative procedures Electronic health record (EHR) familiarity Patient safety and infection control Inventory and supply management Data collection and documentation Basic medical terminology
